for number 10. you need to write the equation in point-slope form, so you are going to use (y-y1)=m(x-x1), therefore you first need to find the slope of the given endpoints, so you use
y1-y2 (-6)-(0) -6
m = ——— = ———-= —- = 3 then you plug into the equation. I will use U(2,-6)
x1-x2 (2)-(4) -2 (y-y1)=m(x-x1) = (y-(-6))=3(x-2)
since its asking for point-slope you leave the answer like this –> (y+6)=3(x-2)
For the points R(-4,2) S(1,4) & T(3,-1)V(-7,-5) to determine whether they are parallel or perpendicular or neither, you need to know the slope!
- If they have the same slope, they are parallel
- If they have a reciprocal slope, they are perpendicular. (ex. 5/4 and 4/5) flipped numbers!
